October 2026 Update

November 2, 2026

The Haskell Foundation is making an effort to communicate more often. It’s time to resurrect the monthly updates. We’re aiming to have an update for the first Monday of every month.

Connect with the Haskell Foundation

We’ve taken meetings with many of our sponsors to better align the Haskell Foundation with the needs of companies using Haskell in production.

If your company is using Haskell in production, and you haven’t been in touch with the Haskell Foundation recently, please take this chance to reach out. We’d be happy to learn what you’re up to, even if your company is not a sponsor of the Foundation.

Let’s begin.

The Technical Leadership Committee has launched

The Haskell Foundation launched the Technical Leadership Committee, a new committee of volunteers that decide how the Haskell Foundation’s resources should be spent on technical projects.

Our inaugural committee is composed of Haskell veterans: Julian Ospald, Simon Marlow, Rodrigo Mesquita, and Joshua Miller. Together, they form an opinionated, proactive committee that’s going to experiment more and shake things up.

AmeriHac 2027 registration is open

The second edition of our North American hackathon series, AmeriHac, is taking place Feb 6-7, 2027 in New York City, hosted by Jane Street.

>> Register for AmeriHac 2027 on Eventbrite

The Haskell Foundation is currently assembling a slate of speakers to inspire Haskell hackers attending AmeriHac. Stay tuned!

The Cabal exactprint project crosses major milestones

The Cabal exactprint project is one of two major technical endeavors supported by the Haskell Foundation today.

As a reminder, the Cabal exactprint project will give cabal-install the ability to modify Cabal files while preserving formatting and comments, a feat which will enable many tooling improvements, from formatting to full management of dependencies in Cabal files.

Exactprinting is a technical tour-de-force. Leana Chiang and Jappie Klooster have managed to get their proposal accepted, and demonstrate that their implementation can parse-and-exactprint 95% of Cabal files on Hackage.

The next milestone involves pushing exactprinting capabilities up to 99% of Cabal files on Hackage.

Activity on X and LinkedIn

To spread the ideas of Haskell and functional programming, we’ve taken steps to get more active on X and LinkedIn. You might have already noticed it in your feed!

The State of Haskell 2026 Survey

The Haskell Foundation is happy to announce that the State of Haskell 2026 survey is online:

>> Take the State of Haskell 2026 Survey

Please take the survey at your earliest convenience and share with your friends (and with your enemies, for good measure). This is the second year the Haskell Foundation is running this survey. The information and insights gathered from the survey will help guide the Haskell Foundation as it supports and grows the community.

www.haskell.org is now managed by the Foundation

Following a vote of the Haskell.Org Committee, the Haskell Foundation is now responsible for www.haskell.org. This includes infrastructure, but also content.

If you are interested in getting involved with www.haskell.org, please see our call for applications to a new working group.

New Directors

Last, but not least: following a special call for applications to the Haskell Foundation’s Board of Directors, the Foundation is happy to announce two new Board members: Arseniy Seroka and Travis Whitaker.

It’s a wrap for this update! Please share this update around, and never hesitate to get in contact with us.
